We see so many times in scripture that we are to look after our brothers, for those less fortunate than us. In Leviticus 25:35; Exodus 22:25; James 2:14–16 we are told to look after the people around us. In Matthew 20:28 Jesus tells us that “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” When we read the parable of the Good Samaritan Jesus tells us (Luke 10:37) to “Go and do likewise”. In Matthew 22:39, Jesus tells us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. There are so many scriptures that encourage us to help the people around us.
