When I started working in an office in Westminster at the age of 16, my boss had me file things away, but he had a special file which he called file 13 (not sure why). This was a dust bin for documents that needed to be trashed and never to be looked at again. He also said that about negative things – that we should have a file 13 in our minds. When things happen in your life that you don’t plan, do you find yourself trying to reason it all out, or look for a “file,” so to speak, in your mind to put it in? What happens when you can’t reason it out or make sense of it all?
Here’s the answer: every one of us needs to create two files in our mind one called, “I Don’t Understand It” and the other file 13 “Things Never To Remember”. When things come up that don’t make sense, things that you can’t figure out, instead of getting frustrated or confused, put it in your “I Don’t Understand It” file and leave it alone. If you go through life trying to figure out why something bad happened, or why things didn’t work out, it will cause you to become bitter and stuck in life. Also, instead of being held back by negative people, places and things from your past, file it in file 13 and move on. Part of trusting God means trusting Him when things don’t make sense, because we know that His plan is always for good. We have to know that He will reveal all things in His time, even if that means in eternity.
Today, are there some things that don’t make sense, or are holding you back that you know you need to file away in the “I don’t understand it” file, or in file 13 “never to be remembered” to be eternally trashed? Choose to trust God now and file them in Jesus’ Name. Now move forward. Know that He loves you, He is for you, and He has a great plan for your future!
“Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, nor with things too profound for me.”
(Psalm 131:1, NKJV)
Pray With Me
Yahweh, today I surrender my past and all the things I don’t understand or have no answers to, and choose to trust You as I move forward. Father, please fill me with Your peace. Fill me with Your grace and compassion. God, trash all those negative people, places and things in my life today, as I press forward into the victory You have prepared for me, in Jesus’ Name! Amen
