Preparing for Christmas 2024

Isaiah 9:1-7

Don’t miss out on the light in the darkness (vs 2). Isaiah was written in dark times. Assyria was about to sweep down and invade and take over Israel. Isaiah’s prophesies were full of doom and gloom, but in the midst of them he looked forward to a time when a child would be born who would be like light dawning in the darkness, a child who would reign forever on David’s throne. Isaiah prophesied that this was happening because the people had turned their back on God, but that this was not the end of the promises of God. Isaiah prophesied a change and a new beginning – a Messiah was going to come and bring light to the whole world. What relevance does this have to us this Christmas? God brings light out of the darkness – When the situations of life seem very dark God promises to shine His light. God tells us that His promises will not fail. Jesus, the light of the world is at the end of the tunnel of darkness. Will you receive the light of Jesus this Christmas?
