What is worship?
John 4:19-24 NLT
Singing is only one component of worship. Worship is about more than a place. Jesus speaks of ‘true worshippers’ worshipping in Spirit and in truth. God longs for intimacy.
Revelation 1:4-6 NKJV – we are kings and priests unto God.
We do not worship a denomination. We don’t worship a human being, a sinner like us. We worship the Son of God. We are all qualified to worship God because of what Jesus has done.
Hebrews 10:19-22 – we can boldly enter the presence of God.
Worship is a lifestyle. How we handle the things in life reflects our relationship with God. Is my life transformed by my relationship with God? Are we kings unto our God? We have freedom in Christ. We are a new creation in Christ. We have everything we need to live a life of godliness (2 Peter 1:3).
Romans 5:17 – we reign in life and should influence the world around. God’s grace is sufficient for us to reign in life.
God is our hope in everything we are going through. God wants us to enjoy life to the full (John 10:10).
Eternal life is not inherited upon our death. We are living it now (Revelation 3:20). We need to let God into every room of our lives (Ephesians 3:17). Does God feel at home in our lives? Do we listen to Him, do we let Him walk into our thinking and our minds? Do we allow Him into all our decisions? Intimacy = Into me see. Have we position ourselves to live under the shadow of God?
Psalm 24:4-5 NLT – Do we have clean hands and pure hands? Anything that we are more passionate about than our relationship with God is an idol.
A clean heart must be:
- A changed heart (Ezekiel 36:5) – Has God changed our hearts? God desires that we have a changed heart and He performs the operation. We cannot do it ourselves.
- A clean heart (Psalm 51:10) – Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8). We need to be blameless, free from hypocrisy.
- A controlled heart (Romans 8:14-15; Ephesians 5:18)
